Futur, takes us to the periphery of Marseille, both literally and allegorically. The piece is based on interviews with fifteen employees from Futur Telecom Company, who describe what they see on the road coming to work, in the city center of Marseille. Their descriptions included architectural shapes, colours, actions, and a certain atmosphere, from which Kameli selected the most inspiring, sites, to build her own narratives. She reveals the in-between, the grey zones, where surface and content interact, where the social, economic and political background of a certain context can be analyzed. Structured as a non-linear single channel, the piece points out the absurd cohabitation between the inhabitants and their broader technological needs, creating a feeling of strangeness. For instance, a group of kids are riding bikes in front of their house, which is appended to coal power station’s chimney. To reinforce this in-between situation she follows a group of teenagers in Marseille in their daily activities, appropriating this undefined territory while building their own identity and facing the end of childhood and their upcoming adulthood: the constructive wandering.
